Six ADFF Documentary Films Considered for Oscar Nominations
21.11.2011 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced the 15 semi-finalists for the 2012 Best Documentary Feature Academy Award. Included on the list are six ADFF alumni films, two of which screened in the festival’s fourth edition last year. Lorenz Knauer’s Jane’s Journey is an intimate look at the life of Jane Goodall and a timely call to save the planet she cares so deeply about; and Richard Press’s Bill Cunningham New York chronicles the life of the 82-year-old fashion photographer, who is most famous for his weekly columns in the Style section of The New York Times. The latter won the Black Pearl Award for Best Documentary by a New Director (jointly with El Ambulante directed by Eduardo de la Serna, Lucas Marcheggiano and Adriana Yurcovich).
The other four films screened at ADFF 2011 in Our World Competition and Showcase sections: Project Nim by James Marsh, Buck by Cindy Meehl, If a Tree Falls by Sam Cullman and Marshal Curry, and Pina by Wim Wenders
